Key Field Airplane Hangar Meridian, MS Geotechnical Engineer: Army Corps of Engineers The Army Corps selected the Geopier rammed aggregate pier system with structural steel uplift anchors instead of traditional concrete piers or driven piles. Geopier uplift elements constructed in the very soft clay were designed to resist a maximum design uplift load from wind equal to 260 kips per column. The tested uplift capacity at the Key Field site exceeded design by 10 tons. |
