The Impact® pier system is a great improvement on the proven and successful Geopier soil reinforcement method. With over ten years of proven performance in California, Farrell Design-Build is committed to providing its customers cost savings using the Impact® pier system, a full displacement Rammed aggregate pier® construction method.

Impact® Pier Description: The Impact® Pier system uses vertically forced displacement technology to densify and reinforce loose and weak soil below groundwater, including loose sand, silt, clay, mixed soil layers, and uncontrolled fill. With construction that utilizes vertical vibratory impact ramming, the Impact pier exhibits higher strength and stiffness than traditional vibrated stone columns. Impact vibratory ramming results:
1- Densify clean SP sands and
2- Reinforce silty sand, silt and clay

Impact® Pier Applications: Impact pier construction is best in high groundwater sand and silt sites that need to support heavy foundation loads and the following:

  • stiffen loose/soft soil for footing support
  • liquefaction control = reinforce + densify
  • soil treatment to depths of 45 feet plus
  • Water treatment plants on loose soil
  • Fuel tanks and Water tanks on soft soil
  • Moderate to heavy building loads
