Uplift RAPs And Corrosion Mitigation of Uplift Steel
Uplift RAPs can provide 25 to 100 kips of ASD uplift resistance for short term earthquake and wind loads. The uplift resistance is provided by installing a structurally designed steel anchor consisting of either a 2-bar or 4-bar system bolted to a 1.5 to 2.5 inch thick steel plate, see Figure. The corrosion of the steel is accounted for in every design. Uplift RAP steel orrosion mitigation measures are outlined in Table 1.

  2. Oversized bar diameter plus

  5. 20 to 30 mil layer of extruded poly-coating

Very High

  1. Consult with Corrosion Engineer & select most effective solution of 2, 3, or 4:
  2. Triple protection: Epoxy-coated 75 ksi A615 Williams Form bar , encased in a poly-corrugated and grouted sleeve and
  3. Cathodic protection OR
  4. Stainless steel
